“He needed to trust her with his secret. She had to trust him with her life.”
Set on the eve of World War II, Shining Through follows Linda Voss as she takes a job with lawyer Ed Leland and is drawn into his secret work for the Office of Strategic Services. When the United States enters the war, she volunteers for undercover duty behind Nazi lines. Her mission leads her into danger as she searches for information tied to a German bomb and to her own family in Berlin.

The film was made in the United States and the United Kingdom, and it runs 132 minutes. Linda Voss is played by Melanie Griffith, whose character moves from office work to espionage under pressure. Michael Douglas plays Ed Leland, the man who draws her into covert operations and becomes her partner in the field. The cast also includes Liam Neeson in a key role within the wartime story.

Its setting in prewar and wartime Europe gives the film a tense, shadowed atmosphere, with Nazi Germany at the center of the danger. The story blends romance with espionage and wartime suspense, keeping personal loyalty and survival closely linked. That mix gives it a serious tone even as it moves through action and undercover intrigue.
